I think this is part of the smoke screen: certain companies aren't
doing as well as they once were. The bailout money is being used to
keep the money going to key executives since customers aren't buying
as much.

I love your analogy. You're right I didn't think we should have bailed out the auto industry either. Now look at each one of them filing bankruptcy and closing down dealerships putting more people out of work! Where did our money go? What exactly did they spend spend it on? Bonuses and raises for corporate execs that's where it is.

My disgust is growing. This is an "ignorance is bliss" situation
because the more you know what is going on the more upset it will make

Tom,
Is your friends name California? Because you just described it to a T. At what point does everyone stand up in disgust as our irresponsible government continues to throw BAD money at bad situations/debt? I truly hope the bailout of California would be the trigger point for EVERYONE (Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, Constitutionalists, etc... ) but then again I hit my boiling point when Bush passed the first despicable TARP bill.
